I strive for peace of mind, strength & energy. a balance between health & happiness. I am a mother of 2 boys. I, as most mothers put my family first and as a mother it is important to remember self. When I longed for relaxation I would reach out to yoga. I have practiced yoga for 4 years but found it hard to stay consistent. With encouragement from a true friend, I joined a class. I did not open my mind or heart with my first group yoga class. I was not comfortable, people I didn't know, a place I had never been to and the thought of "I have to put my bum in the air in front of strangers", although I was open to yoga and I did leave the class with a sense of equanimity. I opened my heart to the next session. Now I am a frequent visitor to a group yoga class. Once strangers, now friends of all ages, sexes and size. I was introduced to Therese, founder of Celtic Spirit and instructor for Partners Yoga. I joined the partners class with a friend and it has been a journey that I will hold close to my heart. You learn to communicate, rely and grow with your partner whether it be a spouse, friend or someone close and you develop a greater understanding of each other. I have found my balance with yoga. Open your heart, mind and soul to yoga and you too may find your balance. Namaste....Crystal Coulter
| I have been doing yoga for over 20 years, in classes and on my own. Now that we had settled at our farm in Gresham, I wanted to add a yoga class back into my life. I googled yoga in Gresham and came up with nothing. My husband and I were driving through Sandy one day and I saw this beautiful old white church and it said YOGA! I was so excited. I went home and googled it and there was the picture of the beautiful space and all kinds of classes that actually fit my schedule. I attended my first class on a Saturday morning in October and Therese was a delight. I love that she has beautiful music on, that we do fun things and are able to laugh at ourselves during difficult moments. I love that we do a variety of things- I mean- how many times can you do “triangle pose”!!???? Anyway, I became a huge fan. Mireena is also a delightful, gentle teacher with a solid grounding in different forms of yoga and we always stretch AND strengthen! The restorative yoga workshops got even my reluctant husband to say “wow” and agree to come to a partners class! Celtic Spirit Yoga is a treasure in Sandy- I feel so lucky to have found it. What led me to yoga was three years ago my dear friend was struggling with the stress and agony of her oldest son doing a tour of duty in Iraq. Thinking that yoga could help calm some of those powerful worries, side by side we began the journey of yoga. Not only did it help my friend survive Iraq and 2 tours of duty but changed my life forever. In 1997 I had a rare spinal cord surgery that left me in discomfort most of the time and a limited range of motion in my neck.
Since beginning yoga, all that has changed. I can safely check my blind spot while driving. I no longer have the need for pain relievers often. The list goes on. My body is strong, fit and far more flexible. I believe my overall health has improved also. Yoga is the miracle exercise. My proudest moment : doing a headstand (we're talking about a gal who could never do a cartwheel. This was big) My biggest accomplishment: Staying so relaxed and still during savasana that it takes sheer willpower to move my fingers and toes back awake. I also believe that my love of yoga is directly connected to our wonderful teacher Therese. Kindness, patience and a soothing spirit are what make her the perfect blend between student and yoga.
I look forward to staying flexible, fit and growing old with yoga.
Thanks,

I had always been attracted to the small white church in Sandy each time I passed by on the way to Mt. Hood. When I saw the sign outside, "Celtic Spirit Yoga," I was even more intrigued. I've now been taking yoga classes with Therese and Mireena for 2 years. My knee pain is practically gone, in large part because of the strengthening and stretching yoga practice provides. The care and compassion of these two wonderful instructors, along with their comprehensive knowledge of yoga, has enriched my life and helped strengthen me both physically and spiritually. I'm most grateful. K.
Here's what one participant had to say about the February Restorative workshop at Celtic Spirit Yoga. "The class combined certain aspect of yoga with lots of props to put you in relaxed positions that didn't push or strain your muscles in any uncomfortable way. I felt like I was definitely opening channels to benefit my body, and it was done in such a comforting manner that there was only gain, no pain! The use of props made the exercises very easy and allowed me to thoroughly enjoy the Yoga experience. After the class, I felt very peaceful and rested. It was a wonderfully nurturing experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone". -Gayle Radcliff, Sandy.

We love the classes at Celtic Yoga. You immediately feel comfortable, relaxed and inspired as you enter the tranquil church setting. Therese does a phenomenal job of introducing you to proper breathing techniques and the benefits of each - who know there were so many ways to breathe! From there you progress into the different moves with plenty of options so you can personalize your practice to your body's needs. Therese provides gentle guidance helping each individual with proper alignment and plenty of encouragement to grow and improve. Each week is different and after years of attending, we still learn something new at every class. The incorporation of music, poetry and thoughtful insights during final relaxation are amazing. It's a great workout with the added benefit of feeling totally renewed.

Yoga has changed my life forever. It has shown me the inner strength that we can all access, once we know that it is there. Once you have realized this potential within yourself you will never look back.

I have a very hectic life, and yoga class with Mireena is by far the most relaxing and renewing thing that I do all week. Mireena is an incredible teacher. She pays attention to whether or not I am doing the postures correctly and is infinitely patient with feedback and help. Mireena does NOT just go through the motions. She really cares, and likes, both yoga and her students. The studio is a peaceful place. Shavasna at Celtic Spirit Yoga is restorative and energizing for me. Sherie V.
